The Friends of the Lake District

 29th October 2018

Staff and Management from Recovery Works took time away from their day jobs recently to spend a day volunteering with The Friends of the Lake District conservation charity.  Staff spent a bright and breezy day up near New Biggin with a team of regular (and much more skilled!) volunteers getting involved in some conservation and heritage tasks.

Friends of the Lake district undertake some great work maintaining and improving this unique and vitally important are, enabling more people to connect with, enjoy and benefit from this inspirational landscape.

Ben Kelly, Dave Vaughan, Charlotte Wood, Claire Knighton, Katie Bebbington and Andy Squires spent the day supporting with clearing land and learning the (remarkable difficult) skill of dry stone walling, managing to rebuild a length of wall during the day.

Charlotte Wood, Recovery Works Service Manager said “It was great to spend the day with colleagues supporting a fantastic Charity in Friends of the lake District, it’s increasingly important to look after our environment and was great to be able to do our bit, however small, to look after an area of such natural beauty”

Recovery Works, part of The Growth Company, have a staff volunteering policy - Volunteer2day, allowing staff to spend two days a year volunteering and supporting a charitable organisation of their choice.  It’s a great way for staff to give something back to a range of important causes, either individually or as a team.
