Ella has been a client of Recovery Works now for approximately 18 months. Ella was a very self sufficient and intelligent client with a strong educational and working background. She came into our service for recovery support via Salus Rehab and we began to work together in order to put some structure in place for her around her interests and what her aspirations were for a career in the medium to long term.

Ella embarked upon a level 3 Teaching Certificate completing and passing this with ACROSS. Ella was also very keen on creative activities and was supporting co-facilitating a Creative Arts class at a local rehab unit which dovetailed nicely with gaining her teaching certificate.

With support from her Employment & Training Consultant, Ella also completed an innovation fund application and was successfully awarded funds to help her to start up a business. Her business was designs bespoke baby and children’s clothing. The clothing produced is unique and aimed at providing clothing for children of individuals also overcoming addiction. The clothing produced is aimed at a child developing a positive self-image and sense of self.

An example of one of her pieces of work was a child’s long sleeved T shirt that had the words “Be your own Hero” on the back with various personalised images on the front of the shirt. Ella was able to offer an opportunity to one of the clients who attended the creative class that she co-facilitated to volunteer with her.

Ella also has a keen interest in floristry and has completed a level 2 business and floristry course. She has now enrolled on a level 3 business and floristry course whilst doing some temporary paid work in floristry of which looks fantastic on her CV.
